Gwyneth Paltrow at a Beyoncé Concert Is the Most Relatable She’s Ever Been

Well, until you remember that Beyoncé will probably see Paltrow’s Instagram.

Whenever there’s a Beyoncé concert, chances are your Instagram feed becomes a play-by-play of the Formation Tour for the night. One friend captures Bey mid-“Formation.” Another gets her tossing her hair during “Hold Up.” Even if you couldn’t get tickets to her most recent tour, it almost feels like you were there (save for the massive FOMO). Last night, this happened to anyone with friends in Los Angeles. Our feeds lit up with images from her performance at Dodger Stadium, from both friends and celebrities alike. Some even posted videos, which are always terrible quality given their proximity to the stage and the fact that they’re taking video of a large video screen. It’s pixelated vid-ception. This even happened to Beyoncé’s good friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

But G.P. isn’t immune to the transformative experience of attending a Beyoncé concert, and she had to get some lo-fi video for her feed. It’s possibly the most relatable Paltrow has ever been. She’s just like the rest of us here, ascending to a higher astral plane while watching the queen perform. She reaches for her phone during a moment when Beyoncé is still, and Paltrow thinks she’ll be able to get some good footage to stick on Instagram. She records for two seconds and uploads. Now, for the perfect caption…

And that’s where she loses us. “Oh my BB, you just [broken heart emoji].” It’s a reminder that no matter how many poor-quality videos of the Formation Tour Gwyneth Paltrow uploads to Instagram, they’re still different than all of the other ones that crowded our feeds last night. She knows Beyoncé. They’re friends. Their daughters are “godsisters and besties,” per an Instagram post Paltrow shared in May.

So it’s a slightly different—albeit still relatable—phenomenon when Gwyneth Paltrow shares a video on Instagram from a Beyoncé concert. She’s not just excited by Queen Bey, she’s also really impressed with her friend at work. She’s being supportive of her BB.
