The Hamptons beckons every time. Come rain or shine, every summer it calls out with its sweet song, a composition of tinkling baccarat and rosé splashes and the generous hum of lawn care. It’s a pied-piped tune that lures those with the appropriate funds from Manhattan to the shore, and it’s so hard to ignore, even in the middle of a global pandemic. Perhaps especially in the middle of a global pandemic. If one must hunker, best hunker by the sea, it sings.
Donald Trump Jr. must have heard its song. The eldest son of the president and his girlfriend, former Fox News talking head Kimberly Guilfoyle, attended a party over the weekend, according to Page Six’s two anonymous sources. Real estate developer Joe Farrell hosted the party at a $25 million mansion, per the tabloid. (Farrell is the brains behind the infamous Bridgehampton mega-mansion called the Sandcastle, and he and the house hosted Don Jr.’s dad for a fundraiser last summer).
About 100 people were there, one source told Page Six. No one wore masks, they said. It was catered and the bartenders wore uniforms, they said. And “a source close to Don Jr.” said it was an outdoor event and the first son of MAGA-dom only stayed for about an hour.
Junior is often out east around this time of year. Next weekend is usually the weekend of the Washington Post heir Lally Weymouth’s annual Fourth of July party. The enormous bipartisan garden party is the crown jewel of the Hamptons season. There, one can see a Trump child on the same dance floor as Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, in the same room as George Soros and Steven Spielberg. And this summer, it is no more. The New York Post reported in May that the party would go on hiatus. It’s for the best, probably, but that doesn’t stop those that simply must go to a function. And Donnie reportedly found a way to go to a function.
