The rocker is not above getting into character.

Patti Smith is a New York institution. The rocker, who famously lived in the iconic Chelsea Hotel in the 1970s is known as a style icon. Her wardrobe, which is mostly made up of bold black pieces, has long been the envy of anyone who aspired to dress on the edge. So, when Smith showed up at the New York premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, she wore a shirt inspired by . . . Orlando Bloom. Trust us, she made it work.

At the premiere, Smith paired her usual dark look with an actual shirt from one of the early Pirates movie, paired with a black vest. Per Page Six, Bloom saw Smith at the film’s afterparty and said, “Hey, I’ve been looking for that!”

Smith’s premiere costume an added touch of excitement to the debut of the fifth (seems a bit monotonous at this point, no?) Pirates film. But, as even she said in her 2010 memoir Just Kids, Patti Smith is one for the unpredictable.

“No one expected me,” she wrote. “Everything awaited me.”
