One might have imagined, and hoped, that the Markle family circus (in the sense of their speaking out to the press)—which reached its fever pitch right before the wedding—would have died down in the weeks and months following Harry and Meghan's wedding. Clearly, particularly in the case of Meghan's half-sister, Samantha Markle, this is not a person who is close to her, nor someone who has seen or been in touch with her for a very long time. Samantha discussing the particulars of Meghan’s life now feels about as relevant as your co-worker who reads the Daily Mail on occasion expressing his or her thoughts by the vending machine on how Meghan’s doing.

Yet, Samantha continues on. Her Twitter account is private, but her tweets still get picked up and make headlines in the British tabloids. On the heels off the most recent interview from her father, Thomas Markle, who has said he will continue to speak out until he hears from his daughter, Samantha specifically targeted Meghan, and her husband Prince Harry, following their appearance at the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition: “How about you pay tribute to your own father?!” she wrote. “Enough is enough.” She then—and we’re just telling you what she tweeted—tweeted, “Act like a humanitarian, act like a woman . . . If our father dies, it’s on you Meg.”

It goes on: “Glad you have so much time to gallivant around paying tribute to others while ignoring your own father! How cold can you be and look in the mirror? Harry? I guess I was right.”

Samantha is said to still be writing a book, about “living in the shadows of the duchess.” It is, of course, very unlikely that the Palace will dignify any of this with a response.
