At least, not according to his daughter, Samantha Markle, who both originated this rumor and debunked it on Twitter. Markle tweeted on Wednesday, “I joked about my father #thomasmarkle starting a new #clothing line, and it went VIRAL LMAO. Just an example of the #media running with a story that they didn't verify at all. I did this to prove that the media prints anything! Stop being gullible, peeps!”
Markle, whose protected Twitter account is mysteriously accessible to the tabloid press, weighs in often on her father’s plans, and along with his frequent media appearances is usually a reliable source about the going-ons of a famous thorn in the royal family’s side. Since she now seems to be wrapped up in the world of “fake news,” it may be time to treat her like the president and fact-check her tweets.

Thomas Markle is not done trying to dominate headlines. On Wednesday, his daughter Samantha Markle confirmed on Twitter that her father is now releasing a clothing line for men, per Page Six (Markle’s tweets are protected).
This news comes just one day after the Daily Mail reported that Meghan Markle is not pleased with all of her father’s TV interviews. A friend of Meghan’s told the Mail that the new royal will not speak to her father until he reaches out to her “in a respectful manner.” Is a clothing line more respectful than interviews with TMZ? Possibly. But it doesn’t really sound like a move toward reconciliation.
There isn’t much else out there about this supposed men’s wear line, other than the fact that Samantha, who has not been shy to drum up some press for herself, supports it. During his recent interview with the Mail on Sunday, Thomas did not mention this venture, though he did mention that Prince Harry had called to chastise him for working with the press on paparazzi photos.
Samantha isn’t letting out too many details, either. She does say in her Twitter bio that The Emperor’s New Clothes is one of her favorite childhood stories. Could that be some kind of code about her father’s business plan? Knowing this family, we will only have to wait for the next interview with Piers Morgan to find out.
