Damn Yankees made a great musical. Bring It On did too. So why not give another sport a chance at the Broadway treatment, especially one with an inspirational slogan built right in?

Get ready to sing “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” at the top of your lungs: Friday Night Lights is becoming a musical. Even better for fans of the beloved NBC drama, Scott Porter—who played paralyzed former quarterback Jason Street—is set to star as Coach Taylor, the father figure coach played by Kyle Chandler. According to Variety the production is looking like a one-night-only or maybe single weekend event, like the recent The O.C.: The Unauthorized Musical from the same team, so if you want to see Coach and Mrs. Coach sing a heartfelt ballad to each other, you’ll have to get your tickets fast.

We now welcome suggestions of other musical numbers, how many seasons of the show the musical should cover, and whether or not they should just ignore the Tyra/Landry murder plot from season 2.
