Carrie Fisher Once Had a Heroic Response to Hollywood Sexual Assault

The New York Times broke Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual assault habit on October 5, and less than two weeks later, the number of accusers has reached 40, and is likely to keep growing. The Weinstein allegations appear to be only the tip of the iceberg of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry and elsewhere. But there is one shining light, revealing the path forward. She is Carrie Fisher, the original princess who punches. Even in death, she has the answer.

Heather Robinson is a screenwriter who befriended Hollywood elite, including Fisher, on A.O.L. message boards in the late 1990s. She called into a local radio station in Tucson and spoke of an appalling experience with an Oscar-winning producer in 2000 (she declines to say who), before the retribution kicked in. Per Ross: “About two weeks later, [Fisher] sent me a message online and she said, ‘I just saw (blank) at Sony Studios. I knew he would probably be there, so I went to his office and personally delivered a Tiffany box wrapped with a white bow. I asked her what was inside and she said, ‘It was a cow tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli with a note that said, If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box!’”

Ross then encouraged listeners: “If you don’t know what a cow tongue looks like, Google it.”
