Kate Winslet has forged enviable bonds with her handsome male co-stars over the course of her career. She and Titanic super-star Leonardo DiCaprio are so close, for example, that he reportedly walked Winslet down the aisle of her 2012 wedding. The Oscar-winning actress got along so well with Jobs co-star Michael Fassbender that he thoughtfully surprised Winslet with a top-of-the-line present for her 40th birthday. But it might be Winslet’s relationship with Liam Hemsworth, with whom she acts in the upcoming period drama The Dressmaker, that gets under her teenage daughter’s skin most.

In the Australian film, Winslet plays the titular role, a glamorous dressmaker who returns to her small hometown to exact revenge on those who did her wrong and reconnect with an attractive farmer played by the Hunger Games stud, who happens to be 15 years her junior. Their relationship progresses via several love scenes, for which Winslet dutifully prepared her 15-year-old daughter Mia, a Hunger Games super-fan.

“When I told my daughter that I was shooting the [sex] scene that day she spluttered,” Winslet told BBC’s The One Show earlier this week. “I took it to be jealousy.”

The Oscar winner gave her daughter credit for helping her with a bit of integral research, however.

“It’s only because of her that I know the name of the character that Liam plays in The Hunger Games—I wouldn’t have a clue otherwise!“ she said during a different interview with This Morning.

Mia has found a way to chide her mother, though, for making movie love to her crush.

“It’s rather alarming that [Mia] is actually closer in age to Liam than I am,” Winslet continued. “She only pointed that out to me the other day, and I was like, ‘Oh shhh!’”

Just because Winslet has 15 years of life and movie experience on her co-star does not mean that she could hold it together, exactly, while semi-nude with him on set.

“I did feel quite bad for Liam,” the actress shared. “He’s a sweet guy, but I couldn’t stop giggling.”

“Liam is a lovely, lovely guy, much is made of how he looks and he’s physically extremely beautiful but he’s a fabulous chap and was really up for mucking in with the rest of us,” Winslet revealed. “But my daughter, Mia, was extremely jealous, along with all of her friends.”
