The Daily Mail is hard at work on baby watch. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in Australia and several months away from delivering their royal addition, which means the freshest royal (adjacent) child is the son of Pippa Middleton and James Matthews. The only issue is that the Middletons aren’t much for creating a lot of juicy gossip, so the Mail had to create some where it could.

The story in question mentions that Kate Middleton has yet to visit her sister in the Lindo Wing, where she gave birth on Monday. The reason she reportedly hasn’t shown up yet? She’s been at work.

The Mail notes that Kate hosted a meeting for one of her charity initiatives, Early Years, on Tuesday. This event was likely hosted at her home at Kensington Palace but was not a public event, meaning the press didn’t even know about it until afterwards. No doubt, though, this event was scheduled far in advance—maybe even before Pippa announced last spring that she was expecting.

There really isn’t much to read into in terms of the behavior of a first-time aunt who has just returned to royal engagements after having her own baby in April. If she still hasn’t met her nephew by Christmas, then we’ll talk. But when the Middletons lack the good gossip, someone has to come up with it.
