Watch the Avengers: Endgame Cast Sing a Helpful Franchise Recap

Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Paul Rudd, and more join forces for a new version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

Just days ahead of Avengers: Endgame’s debut, it feels fair to assume that many of us are scrambling to remember the piles and piles of lore that have gone into this franchise—or, you know, even just the names of all the characters who will likely appear in its big culmination. Thankfully, most of the film’s cast—including Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Don Cheadle, and more—assembled on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday to offer a quick franchise recap in the form of a song. Specifically, the group sang a modified version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire”—an apt choice for a group of heroes that has, in fairness, caused a lot of collateral damage while saving the world.

Obsessives might already be aware that this is not the first time the group has done something like this. Ahead of Avengers: Infinity War last year, Jimmy Fallon got the gang together for a Brady Bunch parody with a similar goal. It might surprise some to see that Fallon was able to book the group, despite its obvious connection to Jimmy Kimmel as part of the Disney-ABC family—but it seems safe to assume the musical reunion only got the green light because Kimmel got first dibs on the cast earlier this month.

In early April, several cast members—including Scarlett Johansson, who couldn’t make it to Fallon this time—appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss the movie. (Johansson was unable to confirm or deny the existence of a Black Widow movie.) They also read a “new” Thanos children’s book—which, like Infinity War, takes kind of a dark turn toward the end.

Like Game of Thrones, which has suffered two leaks in Season 8, Avengers: Endgame has also dealt with leaked footage—a treacherous prospect for fans who want to go into the film completely unspoiled. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo, meanwhile, have asked fans not to ruin the film for others after viewing, pleading, “Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we’re once again asking for your help. When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you.” Thankfully, Fallon’s video is spoiler-free—making it the perfect way for fans to kill time for the next few days.
