Geena Davis has long been a strong advocate for gender equality in Hollywood, pushing film and TV executives to work harder for an equal mix of women and men in the business through her non-profit Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. So, she’s just as jazzed about the recent spate of movies centering on female heroes as the rest of us.

“It certainly should be the case that movies with a female character should be made more and more,” she told Variety in an interview ahead of her new film Marjorie Prime. “Enough with the proof that it works. We’ve had Star Wars with a female lead. There’s been hit after hit. Disney has proved without a shadow of a doubt that movies with a female lead work. Our research shows that in films in 2014 and 15 with a female lead character, had 16% more profit at the box office.”

When asked whether she believed her roles in movies like The Long Kiss Goodnight and Cutthroat Island could have inspired the recent wave of female-led action movies like this year’s Wonder Woman and Atomic Blonde, Davis answered that she doesn’t think she can take credit… but she wouldn’t say no to playing an Amazon.

“I would never claim credit for those movies,” she said. “Certainly Wonder Woman needed to be made, and I’m so beyond thrilled with how it came out. I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, ‘I’m sure you’re going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there’s always me. I’m available.’

“I loved it, and I want to do more of those films. My dream goal would be to have a streaming show where I could be a badass.”

Her archery skills did, after all, almost get her a spot in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. And at six feet tall, she’s got the stature to take on any baddie the DC Universe could throw her way.

Hot off her wild success, Patty Jenkins is reportedly about to finalize a deal to direct a Wonder Woman sequel that would see her become the highest-paid female director ever. While a sequel was announced months ago, Jenkins has been holding out for the kind of properly big payday that any director, male or female, gets after a smash success like this one. But since virtually every direct with a hit this size has been male, Jenkins is set to make history as the highest-paid female director of all time.
