There’s some decidedly old-school but no less heated flirting going on this exclusive clip from My Cousin Rachel, but this is far from your traditional tale of polite courtship. In this adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s novel, Sam Claflin plays Philip, who becomes obsessed with Rachel (Rachel Weisz), the wife of his recently deceased cousin whom Philip has reason to believe murdered him. He starts out set on revenge, but when he meets Rachel . . . well, she’s Rachel Weisz, and far more alluring than the potential murderer he expected. Since this is based on a novel by the author of Rebecca and The Birds, though, you know it’s going to get a lot more complicated and mysterious from there.

My Cousin Rachel, which also stars Holliday Grainger and Iain Glen, opens in limited theaters on Friday.
