Sterling K. Brown Will Boost the Handsomeness of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3

The This Is Us fan-favorite announced a mystery role this week, and has already been spotted on set.

Say what you will about Midge’s trials and tribulations, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel never lacks for handsome men in her orbit. Sterling K. Brown will be the latest high-profile star looking dapper in a suit for the Emmy-winning Amazon comedy, as the This Is Us and Black Panther star confirmed a brief guest spot in Season 3.

Brown announced the news himself over Twitter this week, while Deadline followed up to suggest Brown will be present in three of the upcoming season’s eight episodes (down from the second year’s ten). “I’m eastward-bound,” Brown said in the video. “I’m going to do a little TV show—maybe you’ve heard of it—The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

“[Writer-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino] were kind enough to write a little something for your boy,” he continued. “And I said yes. So stay tuned—I’m getting together with Midge, and it’s going to be awesome.” That said—and despite Brown’s “getting together” phrasing—the nature of his character and relationship to Midge remain under wraps for now. At the very least, we can speculate that Brown will remain as dapper as ever, judging by The Blast’s set video of the actor flossing on set.

Impressively, star Rachel Brosnahan and showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino both previously lobbied for Brown to make an appearance on the show. Brosnahan interrupted a 2019 SAG Awards interview with ET, telling the actor “I would do anything, I would go crazy.” Sherman-Palladino later told the outlet “[Brosnahan] doesn't have to campaign very hard. We all want Sterling K. Brown on the show. Sterling K. Brown happens to be a very busy man. We love him. We are trying to find stuff that works with his schedule.”

Elsewhere of Season 3—which picks up after Midge (Brosnahan)’s decision to break off the engagement with Benjamin (Zachary Levi) and take her comedy on tour—the series is expected to return in late 2019. Stars have reportedly let slip that scenes will be shot in Miami, though production only recently commenced in New York.
