Don't Be Shia

Shia LaBeouf Movies Are Now Art, Because Shia Said So

The latest art project from the Transformers star is a free film festival, all about Shia.

Shia LaBeouf, the performance artist and provocateur once best known as a film actor, has found a way to combine the two phases of his career. For the next three days at the Angelika Film Center in New York City, every single one of LaBeouf’s films will be playing, in reverse chronological order. LaBeouf will be there to watch them. And you can watch him watching them, right now, in a live stream. As we write this, he’s eating popcorn.

The project, called #AllMyMovies, is LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner collaboration, the latest from the team that brought you “I Am Not Famous Anymore” (a.k.a. Shia wearing a paper bag over his head to a premiere) and #IAmSorry (a.k.a. Shia sits in an art gallery with a paper bag over his head and apparently cries). For now, #AllMyMovies appears to be the most democratic—the entire event is free, the theater is full of seats, and it seems like a fair bet that there won’t be a huge crowd at two A.M. Wednesday when (by our estimate) the third Transformers film begins playing. What better way to finally buckle down and watch that film than in the presence of Shia himself?

Anyone who attends this First Annual Shia LaBeouf Film Festival/Art Project, please report back on your findings.
